Stand Up Placer offers Recovery services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and their families. For more information on all the services listed here, please call our Helpline at 800-575-5352 or our service office at 916-773-7273.

Crisis counseling
Survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking can obtain crisis counseling at any time, day or night, either by calling the Stand Up Placer 24-hour Helpline at 1-800-575-5352, using our chat feature, or by coming into one of our service offices during business hours: 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. A trained advocate will assess the survivors’ situations, help them with a safety plan, and go over various options with them.

Shelter and safe housing
Stand Up Placer provides emergency confidential shelter where necessary for survivors and their children who are in immediate danger. A shelter stay provides an opportunity for survivors to be safe, to access the resources they and their children need, and to draw up a plan for their future.
You may be eligible for Stand Up Placer’s housing program. Some forms of assistance include one-time help with things like a deposit, first month’s rent, utility deposit, etc. We also have a limited amount of safe housing units out in the community where survivors can live for 12-24 months while they are re-establishing their lives.

Food, clothing, and transportation
Emergency food and clothing are available for domestic violence survivors and their families. Stand Up Placer will also arrange for transportation where required to go somewhere safe or to access necessary services.

Support groups
Weekly support groups are available for survivors of domestic violence, under the guidance of our trained facilitators. Due to COVID-19, our domestic violence support group is currently held twice weekly by phone and video.

Individual therapy for adult survivors and children ages 4+. Referrals for therapy must first be made through a Stand Up Placer advocate. You may request a referral through the helpline or at one of our Direct Services Offices.
Accompaniment and advocacy
To provide support, Stand Up Placer advocates are available to accompany domestic violence survivors through medical, legal, and law enforcement processes. Advocates help survivors navigate these systems and make informed decisions.

Legal services
We provide survivors assistance with obtaining temporary restraining orders, child custody, and divorce. Advocates are available to accompany victims of domestic violence during court and mediation proceedings. Advocates cannot give legal advice; however, we do offer a legal clinic every Tuesday from 8:45 am – 12:10 pm (by appointment only) where survivors can meet with an attorney remotely. Please call our service office at 916-773-7273 for more information or to make an appointment.

Children’s services
Ongoing children’s individual counseling and group programs are offered for the children of domestic violence survivors, both at our shelter and at our service offices.

Referrals and other services
Stand Up Placer collaborates closely with local public and private social service agencies in Placer County to make sure our clients have access to a full range of social services. We provide information and referrals to survivors, and, where necessary, help with setting up appointments, transportation, and accompaniment. We also assist survivors with applying for CalFresh, Victim Compensation, and the Safe at Home Program.

HT drop-in and triage center
To best serve survivors of human trafficking in Placer County, Stand Up Placer has expanded our support services to include a HT Drop-in and Triage Center in a confidential location. This center provides shelter to human trafficking victims who have limited resources and need a safe place to decompress. The combination of the drop-in and triage center was created to offer emergency services to HT survivor all in one place.
Stand Up Placer’s HT Drop-in and Triage center offers:
  • Emergency food and supplies
  • In-person supportive services
  • COVID-friendly case management
  • Emergency shelter
  • Educational space to help promote independence and assist with job readiness
Education and outreach services
Stand Up Placer’s Human Trafficking Team offers an outreach and education program to raise awareness of the realities of human trafficking in Placer County and to educate communities to Stand Up against human trafficking. We work with community partners, organizations, and communities to ensure that we are raising awareness of human trafficking.

To request a training on human trafficking, please email Human Trafficking Services Coordinator, Fany Aguilera, at [email protected]
