Stand Up Placer's Safe House is located in a secure and confidential location, offering survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking in Placer County a safe place to heal and recover.

The Safe House Program is designed to empower survivors and develop strategies to stay safe and build their future.

This includes access to:

  • Emergency necessities
  • Advocacy
  • Classes
  • Case management
  • Weekly therapy


Stand Up Placer recognizes that children who have been living in a home with violence enter the safe house with their own special needs and concerns. Our children’s advocate will work with parents and therapists to assess each child entering the safe house and develop a program which meets the individual needs of each child.

The Women of Worth Safe House provides an emergency shelter and transitional housing assisting women and families in crisis, victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking. Offers support services including legal and medical assistance, advocacy and case management, mentoring and support groups, educational and career assistance, and art therapy for children ages 5-12.

Community Beyond Violence provides emergency confidential shelter services as necessary for survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault and their children who are in immediate danger.

They have a local Safe House and clients may stay up to 90 days after their intake. They also provide limited motel room stays to clients on an as needed basis. The Safe House is pet friendly. If you have a pet and are in need of CBV’s Safe House services, please let your advocate know at your intake.

To stay at The Gathering Inn, a referral through the Coordinated Entry system is required. To get a referral, call the Placer County Homeless Resource Helpline at 833-375-2237 (or 833-3PLACER).

The Gathering Inn Mid Placer is a 100 bed emergency housing and services program located at the DeWitt Campus in Auburn, CA.

The Gathering Inn is staffed 24/7 and employs 4 full-time Case Managers who work with guests to identify and work through barriers to housing by discussing how to increase income, providing a connection to education, and securing sustainable housing.

Case Managers then provide follow-up support for up to 1 year in an effort to reduce homelessness.

Mid Placer provides:

  • Safety and security on campus
  • 3 meals a day
  • Clean clothing
  • Bedding
  • Shower facilities
  • Use of electricity to run CPAP and Oxygen machines
  • Life skills courses
  • Drug and alcohol recovery meetings
  • Additional groups intended to help guests with individual development, and to transition guests from homelessness to housing

The Gathering Inn South Placer Emergency Shelter is a nomadic shelter located in Roseville. This shelter welcomes individuals and families. Partnerships with churches throughout Placer County make this program possible by providing guests with a meal and a safe place to sleep. Intakes and case management are offered 7 days/week.

The Gathering Inn provides a variety of services – some just for people in their program or on the waiting list, and others for the wider community of people in need. People can get on the waiting list by calling 211 and ALSO calling TGI to confirm they want to receive services and get into the program.

The Sierra Roots Weather Shelter in Nevada City is a program that is activated during extreme hot or cold weather events for one of the most vulnerable populations, the chronically homeless people in the community. Each time a weather event triggers the need to open, enough volunteers are needed also.

Clothing is available the first part of the evening. In the winter an extra amount of sturdy boots, rain gear, warm coats, etc. are available.

Sierra Roots warming shelter can accommodate up to 30 adult guests. First come, first served.

To check if the shelter will be open, call 211 or 833-342-5211.

Sierra Roots always notifies its answering service when the shelter will open, so another way to check if shelter will be open is to call the business line, 530-751-3263.

The Sierra Roots shelter opens when the following conditions occur:

  • 5 consecutive hours at 30 degrees F. or lower, or 32 degrees F. or lower with snow on the ground
